According to the World Health Organization, we should eat fish at least twice a week. The preparation method is flexible—fish can be baked, boiled, stewed, or fried. Fried fish is a delicacy, but breading can significantly increase calorie content. What if we skip the breading? To make tasty fried fish without adding bread, be sure to use this simple trick.

How to choose good fish?

You don't have to live by the sea to enjoy tasty fish. Many excellent fish options are available in stores and markets. It's worth paying attention to the logos on the packaging. Fish with MSC and AMS certifications come from sustainable sources, making them both tasty and healthy.

If you prefer freshwater fish, such as carp, bream, pike-perch, or catfish, you can find them at local fish markets. As you can see, there's a wide variety to choose from. The biggest challenge often lies in preparing the fish. It can be stewed in its own sauce, steamed, baked, or fried. Most people opt for the last option.

How to fry fish without breading?

How do you fry fish? Place it in a hot pan with melted butter or cover it in breading. Frying breaded fish is easier, but it has one major drawback—it is very high in calories. If you want to cut calories, skip the breading and use a simple trick to keep the fish from sticking to the pan.

Here's how: Clean the fish by removing the innards and washing it thoroughly under running water. Pat it dry with a paper towel and set it aside. Take out a pan and add oil or butter. The fat should completely cover the bottom of the pan. Heat it for about 5 minutes on medium heat, allowing the meat to cook evenly without burning.

When the oil sizzles, sprinkle a large pinch of salt into the pan. The salt will prevent the skin from sticking and add a natural salty flavor. Fry the prepared fish for approximately 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Before removing the fish from the pan, ensure the meat is fully cooked.
