Fire in Moscow parking lot sparks explosions, raises questions
A fire broke out in the parking lot of the Afimall City shopping center, located in the business district of Moscow, the Russian capital. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, one of the cars parked there caught fire.
Videos have surfaced online showing thick black smoke rising above the district. Preliminary reports suggest that at least three powerful explosions were heard at the scene.
Russian media report that a car and fuel tanks exploded. The fire also reportedly affected building materials located at the site.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations states that the fire has been contained. "The cause of the fire is being determined," reads the statement.
There is currently no information about the owner of the car that exploded.
Preliminary reports indicate that there are no fatalities.
Drone center at the explosion site
Anton Herashchenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reminds that last week Russia revealed it has a "drone center" at this location, from which drones involved in the invasion of Ukraine are remotely controlled.
Kyiv has not yet officially commented on the fire in Moscow.
