Ellie Goulding rises from 2024 setbacks with new album promise
Ellie Goulding just turned 38. The British singer and songwriter has had a challenging year. Her marriage fell apart, and she also had to sell her beloved home, losing millions in the process. However, she's ending 2024 positively, and fans are already getting excited.
At the beginning of 2024, a massive scandal erupted around the multi-award-winning singer Ellie Goulding. Paparazzi caught her sharing passionate kisses with surfing instructor Armando Perez in Costa Rica. Shortly afterward, the star's husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, was photographed without his wedding ring.
Speculation about a marriage crisis, followed by rumors of the end of their relationship four and a half years after their wedding, was increasingly persistent. Eventually, the couple couldn't withstand the pressure and released a statement. In his February 2024 post, Jopling emphasized that they had already decided to part ways some time ago and that their family and friends were aware of it.
"Caspar and I have separated"
"I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our sons best interests at heart. We are committed to protecting our family privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes - we won't be commenting further. Thank you," wrote Ellie Goulding on Instagram.
After the separation from her husband, Goulding was officially linked with Perez, who is eight years her junior, but their relationship could not withstand the test of time. The surfing instructor from Costa Rica was accustomed to a quiet life, and the buzz surrounding the star overwhelmed him. Ultimately, they went their separate ways.
Ellie Goulding lost millions
An additional blow for Ellie Goulding in 2024 was that she had to sell her five-story London townhouse in the Mayfair area for a pittance. The four-bedroom building was bought for roughly $3.8 million. When she decided to sell it, it was valued at $7.4 million, but Goulding had to start lowering the price, especially after separating from her husband. The buyer finally paid $3.2 million. The star lost a fortune on it.
However, the singer's unlucky year ended positively. She told fans she's working on a new album, channeling her experiences into new music. As stated in an interview with The Sun, she drew inspiration from her personal life. The album is set to be released in 2025.
