- According to a report by the country's government on Tuesday, at least 2,200 buildings were destroyed by two strong earthquakes that struck Cuba on Sunday. The catastrophe also led to landslides and damage to the energy infrastructure. Most of the damaged buildings are located in the Granma and Santiago de Cuba provinces, in the southeast of the island, where the tremors were most strongly felt.
- Intense rainfall caused numerous floods in Bogotá, Colombia's capital. According to Colombian civil defense services, the accumulated water in the capital has made dozens of streets, including main city arteries, impassable. There was also a significant traffic light failure, which intensified traffic chaos in the city. City authorities stated that repairing the warning system is hindered by heavy rains and water accumulating on the streets.
- Due to the intensifying "Jennings Creek" fire on the border of New York and New Jersey, train service was suspended on the section between New York and New Haven, which is part of one of the most important railway lines in the USA. The "New York Times" reported that some areas remain too difficult to access for vehicles involved in firefighting and rescue operations. On Tuesday afternoon, the fire was estimated to be 10 percent contained in both New York and New Jersey. One employee from the New York State Parks team died.
