Although chicken meat is not an unusual dinner option, it's usually made with breasts or thighs. We reach for wings far less frequently. Is that right? Well, there's no rational reason for it. This part of the poultry is high in protein, rich in iron, zinc, and B vitamins, and is pleasantly—though not overly—fatty. It’s worth using, even just for a change of dinner routine. Of course, no guesswork: you'll need a good recipe.
Which spices to use for chicken wings?
I think wings pair perfectly with three flavor notes: sweetness, spiciness, and herbs. Achieving each of these sensations becomes very easy when you use a marinade. I make mine with, among other things, honey, chili, and fresh herbs, mainly rosemary and thyme. I combine it all with one more ingredient that works fabulously with the others. I'm talking, of course, about wine.
When I first tried this recipe, I didn't think my family would love it so much. I rather suspected that such chicken wings would be just a snack for me. Today, I know that it’s different, and I plan to make double portions next time. I advise you to do the same—and right away!
Chicken wings – a delicious dinner idea
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs of chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon chili
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- Several sprigs of rosemary
- Several sprigs of thyme
- 5 oz of red wine
- 1 lemon
Preparation:
- You can serve the wings whole or in pieces. If you prefer smaller pieces, cut them at the joints. Then, rub the meat thoroughly with salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the olive oil with minced garlic, honey, lemon juice zest, chili, and chopped herbs.
- Put the wings into the prepared marinade and keep them marinating for at least a few hours, but the optimal time is overnight.
- After that, place the chicken wings in an ovenproof dish and bake them in an oven preheated to 400°F for about 15 minutes. Baste the meat with wine. The total baking time should be approximately 35 minutes. Enjoy!
