Cauliflower steaks are a great alternative to traditional meat dishes. Like their beef counterparts, they are simple to prepare and don't require many additional ingredients. However, you won't need to worry about doneness with these. They can be served with classic dinner sides or simply with bread.

What dishes can be made with cauliflower?

A few years ago, cauliflower was mainly associated with a single dish. It was often treated as merely a dinner side or an evening meal component. Traditionally, it was boiled and then pan-fried with breadcrumbs. This method still has its fans, but the repertoire of cauliflower dishes has expanded significantly lately. Today, we use it in salads, soups, and even as a rice substitute in risotto or a pizza crust base. You can also make steaks out of it.

Cauliflower and its properties

It’s exciting to see so many new cauliflower-based dishes emerging. Not only is cauliflower delicious, but it’s also healthy. It belongs to the same family as broccoli, kale, and cabbage. Scientific research confirms that eating cruciferous vegetables offers many benefits.

They are an excellent source of natural antioxidants and contain a variety of vitamins, carotenoids, fiber, minerals, and phenolic compounds. Including them in your diet can help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Thanks to its antioxidant content, cauliflower helps protect cells from damage and delays the aging process.

The best sides for cauliflower steaks

Cauliflower steaks pair beautifully with spinach, arugula, or lettuce leaves. They go well with simple yogurt-based sauces that include garlic, as well as various types of pesto or hummus. Prefer something more traditional? Serve the steaks with potatoes and your favorite coleslaw, perhaps made from young cabbage. Your family will surely appreciate it.
