In Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, the 61-year-old woman gave birth to her first child, a boy named Petar. Previously, no woman of this age in the country had given birth to her child.
Peter was born at 36 weeks, weighing 5 lbs and measuring 19 inches. The cesarean section of the University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics in Skopje conducted the delivery. Both the mother and the baby are in excellent health.
Many tries. "There are no boundaries in medicine"
The woman tried for 37 years to fulfill her dream of motherhood, undergoing 10 unsuccessful in vitro attempts and experiencing 10 miscarriages.
Despite these challenges, she persevered and froze her egg more than 30 years ago. This foresight, combined with advancements in medicine, enabled her to finally become pregnant.
The clinic director, Irena Aleksijowska-Papastiew, highlighted that this family's story demonstrates that medicine has no boundaries. Faith, years of effort, and medical advancement allowed them to fulfill an unattainable dream, she remarked at a press conference.
The child's 65-year-old retiree father humorously embraces his new role, joking that taking care of his son won't be an issue.
