Zelensky warns Putin: Fear direct talks with Ukraine
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, interviewed the Associated Press. In the conversation, he revealed, among other things, what Vladimir Putin should fear the most.
In the Sunday interview with the Associated Press, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the current war situation. "We are fighting, we are living, we are doing everything to bring peace closer. We are closer to it than ever in these three years of war," he said.
Zelensky also revealed that he expects a visit soon from Donald Trump's special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
Referring to media reports about Donald Trump's contacts with Vladimir Putin, Zelensky emphasized that no talks about Ukraine can take place without its presence. He also said that "they can have their own relationship, but talking about Ukraine without us can be very dangerous for everyone."
"He cannot admit to this"
The President of Ukraine also expressed his opinion on Putin's fears. According to him, the Russian leader should fear direct negotiations with Ukraine and will do everything to show that it is a war between Russia and the West.
"He did not defeat Ukraine, which means he will lose. And he cannot admit to this," Zelensky said, adding that Putin will avoid the possibility of ending the war with Ukraine at the negotiating table in Ukraine, inventing various reasons.
However, the Ukrainian president expressed hope that continued support for the Ukrainian army and sanctions targeting the Russian energy and banking sectors will force Putin to negotiate.
