Zelensky warns of risks if US military aid to Ukraine halts
"We are preparing so that there are no surprises in the military," stated Volodymyr Zelensky, referring to the potential end of military aid from the United States for Ukraine.
"The United States is a strategic partner of Ukraine, and the cessation of military aid will only benefit the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin," emphasized the Ukrainian president, as quoted by the Unian news agency, at a press conference regarding yesterday's summit of European leaders in London.
Zelensky stressed that the potential end of Washington's aid would be "disadvantageous to everyone," and decisions on support were previously approved by Congress.
"We are ready to continue the dialogue, and we want to count on new assistance," pointed out the Ukrainian president. "Ending this would mean exclusive help to Putin. Therefore, I believe the United States, its leaders, and representatives of the civilized world will definitely not help Putin," he added.
Ukraine is preparing for "all challenges"
Zelensky also announced that Ukraine is preparing for all challenges so that there are "no surprises in the military."
The Ukrainian president referred once more to the unfortunate meeting with Donald Trump, which took place on Friday at the White House. "The format of what happened, I don't think brought us anything positive or additional as partners. I don't want to talk about what happened (...) I wouldn't want to talk about why it happened," he noted.
