Zelensky to press NATO for stronger air defenses in Ramstein meeting
Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will meet with members of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on Thursday. Talks with defense ministers and military commanders from NATO countries will take place in Ramstein, Germany. Kyiv aims to persuade partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
"I will participate in a meeting in the "Ramstein" format, with additional negotiations planned with partners at the level of defense ministers and military commanders" Zelensky shared on social media.
According to the President of Ukraine, strengthening defense against Russian air attacks is a key task. "This is realistic provided that partners fulfill the commitments we have already discussed," he emphasized.
What's next for aid to Ukraine? Much depends on Trump
The Ukraine Defense Contact Group, known as the Ramstein Group, was established on April 26, 2022, at the American airbase in Germany. It is an international cooperation platform that coordinates military aid for Ukraine. It includes over 50 countries, including Poland.
The decision on whether the Ramstein Group meetings will continue will be made by the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20.
