During a joint press conference in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky, alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, declared that Russia must come to terms with the crimes it is committing in Ukraine.
In the context of potential peace negotiations, Zelensky suggested that it would be better if Russia "went to."
"Where should Russia go? Ideally, to hell. It would be beneficial for them to understand what they are doing—they are killing us, and we are defending ourselves and fighting the enemy," Zelensky said. He emphasized that Ukraine's plans remain unchanged.
"Of course, we want to be stronger so that this war ends in 2025. I apologize for my undiplomatic language," he quickly added.
Ukraine-Russia negotiations
Currently, Ukraine and Russia are not engaged in peace talks. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the only negotiations between Ukraine and Russia concern the exchange of prisoners.
The Financial Times reports that Ukraine and Russia are negotiating to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
This agreement could be the most significant step toward de-escalation since the beginning of the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that such a deal could indicate Russia's readiness for broader peace talks.
