Zelensky pushes for extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky presented two draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the extension of martial law and general mobilization.

The body's official website announced that the documents had been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. Zelensky submitted the drafts "On the extension of the general mobilization period" and "On the approval of the President of Ukraine's decree on the extension of the martial law mobilization period in Ukraine" on Tuesday, July 23.

They will be processed without delay, assures Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak on the Telegram app. The politician predicts that the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee will consider them on Tuesday, and then they will be put to a vote at the Verkhovna Rada session.

Regulations considered without delay

"Now the Committee, and then the Rada, will approve them at the session. It will be in effect from August 12 and for 90 days, until November 9. It will be the 12th parliamentary vote on this matter," said Zheleznyak.

The Ukrinform Agency reminds us that on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada approved the previous presidential decrees regarding the extension of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine on May 14 for 90 days until August 11, 2024.
