Zelensky leaves White House empty-handed after Trump clash
The meeting was far from pleasant. During the conversation between Zelensky and Trump, which was observed by journalists, a heated exchange of words took place. The planned signing of the agreement did not occur, and the President of Ukraine left the White House alone. He referred to these turbulent events in a brief note.
The purpose of Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the United States was to sign a minerals agreement, but this plan fell through. Instead, a dispute unfolded at the White House. Donald Trump made ungracious remarks about the Ukrainian president, ultimately asserting that "he is not ready for peace."
Despite the attacks from Trump and J.D. Vance in front of the cameras, Zelensky stood firm in defending Ukrainian interests. He ultimately left the White House earlier than planned, without the customary farewell from the U.S. president.
After all this, he posted a note online, free of negative emotions.
"We are working exactly for that"
"Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that," wrote the President of Ukraine.
