As attested by Reuters, Xiaomi's new sedan, the SU7, is reported to have faster acceleration than comparable models from both Tesla and Porsche. According to Xiaomi's founder Lei Jun, the vehicle can achieve a speed of 62 mph in just 2.78 seconds. This information was shared during a presentation on the X platform.

The Xiaomi electric car will be available in two variants. One model boasts a range of up to 414 miles on a single charge and features rear-wheel drive. The other model offers a range of up to 497 miles and comes with 4x4 drive. The range of a Tesla 3, by comparison, is 374 miles. While the prices of the SU7 have not yet been released, Lei Jun has stated that while it might be high, it will be a cost that customers find rational.

Per Jun's presentation, their electronic vehicles can be fast-charged even at low temperatures. Moreover, he shared that their cars have a shared operating system with popular smartphones and other Xiaomi electronic devices, a fact mentioned in Reuters' report.

Xiaomi's ambitious plans for the future

Lei Jun outlined Xiaomi's ambitious roadmap for the next 15-20 years during the reveal. Clearly stated, their objective is to break into the top five largest auto manufacturers globally within this time period. Through this initiative, they aim to stimulate growth within the Chinese automotive market.

In addition to the SU7, Xiaomi also plans to build what Lei Jun refers to as the "dream vehicle." Designed to compete with both Porsche and Tesla, this car is expected to feature industry-leading autonomous driving capabilities.
