Woman hospitalized after wolves attack her in French safari park
A dramatic incident occurred on Sunday in one of the most popular safari parks in France. A 37-year-old woman was attacked by several wolves after entering a part of the zoo meant exclusively for cars.
As reported by CNN, the woman at the French safari zoo was attacked on Sunday by several wolves after entering a restricted area meant only for vehicles.
Luckily the medical staff intervened very quickly and we were able to save this person, said the zoo director, Christelle Bercheny, at a press conference.
The attack took place around 3:30 AM Eastern Time at the Thoiry Zoo Park in Yvelines, about 31 miles west of Paris.
After staying the night at the park, the woman, 37, went out jogging and accidentally entered the safari zone, TF1 reported, highlighting that it was an area of about 17 acres where animals, including wolves and bears, roam freely.
The wolves "pounced" on the woman while she was running. She sustained serious injuries and bites to her neck, calf, and back. The woman was hospitalized, and her condition has stabilized. The zoo has launched an investigation into the matter.
A popular spot on the map of France
Thoiry is one of the most popular wildlife parks in France. About 800 animals are kept there and can move freely, while visitors observe them from safe vehicles.
The park offers accommodation near the wolves and bears enclosures, and the area has electric fences and moats for protection.
