"Witcher" star Freya Allan to harness the power of the dead in 2024 horror flick "Baghead"
The career of the British actress didn't really take flight until her role in Netflix's hit show. While latest reports suggest the "Witcher" franchise might be coming to an end, the young 23-year-old star probably won't need to be concerned about job offers.
Since 2019, Allan has appeared in two miniseries, "War of the Worlds" and "The Third Day," as well as in Navot Papushado's film "Gunpowder Milkshake". Soon, she will be seen in two titles: "Planet of the Apes: The Last Frontier" by Wes Ball, where she plays the lead role, and earlier in "Baghead" by debutant Alberto Corredor.
"Baghead": what's the story?
Official description from the distributor, Cinema World, reveals that the film revolves around Iris who, following the mysterious death of her long-estranged father, inherits a dilapidated bar in a desolate area. Curious about why her father left when she was just a child, she starts exploring the unknown.
What she discovers is that the abandoned place harbors more than just a family secret. It's a curse binding its owner with an ancient being known as Baghead. Whoever makes a pact with this demon becomes the guardian of its power, granting them the ability to summon the dead for exactly two minutes.
Fascinated by this dark revelation, Iris decides to leverage the creature's ability to help those mourning their loved ones. However, they must strictly adhere to the ritual rules, mindful that going over the session time by even a second can lead to disastrous consequences.
