The recent severe winter weather has significantly disrupted air travel in the United States. Over 1,700 flights were canceled and 3,700 delayed this Tuesday alone.

Major airlines like United Airlines and Southwest Airlines have been heavily affected, canceling over 300 flights. The storm's impact was widespread, affecting numerous airports in Houston, Chicago, New York, Newark, and LaGuardia.

The chaos on Tuesday adds to the over 3,300 flight cancellations experienced on Monday, marking the highest number since the Southwest meltdown in 2022. This disruption is partly attributed to the ongoing grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 9 following an incident with an Alaska Airlines flight. Airlines like United and Alaska operate this model and have faced continuous cancellations.

The situation has escalated since Friday, with more than 10,000 flights canceled. FlightAware data shows over 1,000 cancellations daily, with Friday recording nearly 2,300. This has led to significant travel disruptions, affecting thousands of passengers nationwide.
