Without a doubt, winter is not the most beloved season for car enthusiasts. The rapidly falling darkness, late sunrises, and slippery streets are just a few of the challenges drivers face. Additionally, removing frost from windows and clearing snow from the vehicle can take several minutes.

Internet users worldwide support each other by sharing tricks that make everyday life easier. Defrosting car windows is certainly not a pleasant task, which leads to the search for alternatives to traditional scrapers. However, some methods require great caution.

American internet users have suggested using a plastic bag to defrost windows. To make this method effective, the bag should be partially filled with hot water. Once outside, simply press the bag against the window and move it along the surface. Some people have even resorted to pouring water directly from a kettle, claiming it saves time and energy. However, this is a significant mistake.

The method that can cost you dearly

Unfortunately, this "brilliant" method is not ideal. The temperature difference between the hot water and the frozen window is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which experts warn can lead to window cracking and high repair costs. Some people have shared their failures in TikTok videos, warning others against this solution.

Drivers are advised to be cautious when applying anything heated to the windshield, as the dramatic temperature change can cause small cracks, which might lead to the windshield shattering during another frost attack, said an expert in an interview with "The Express".

Dorry Potter also spoke in an interview with the British "The Express". This expert from National Scrap Car stated that the best way to avoid defrosting is to use a special cover on the windshield. She also discouraged using unusual methods like rubbing the window with a potato or an onion, as their effectiveness is practically nonexistent.

One of the best ways to defrost the windshield is primarily to prevent frost from forming on it, Potter emphasized.

Windshield covers are a cheap and simple way to fix frozen windows. These accessories can be found in popular stores for just a few dollars, and setting them up takes only a few seconds.
