He received it as a gift from the Swiss with wishes for it to "measure only happy times." An extraordinary watch belonging to Winston Churchill, which witnessed many historical events, has just gone on sale. Who will become the new owner of the 1946 Movado Calendograf watch?

A real treat for collectors and history lovers! The Movado Calendograf watch, made of 18-carat yellow gold and once owned by Winston Churchill, has just been put up for sale. One of the most important leaders of the 20th century received this watch in 1946 when he visited Switzerland and gave his famous speech calling for the creation of the United States of Europe.

On the back of the watch, the words are engraved: "To Winston Churchill as testimony of the admiration and gratitude of some Swiss citizens, September 1946." But that's not all. A letter accompanies the watch, wishing for it to measure only happy times for Churchill, his loved ones, and England.

In addition to the watch, history enthusiasts can also purchase a set of three Havana cigars, which once belonged to Churchill. The politician later gifted them to his banker. In many old photos, we see Churchill with a cigar in his mouth. He loved to smoke them and gladly posed with them.

Who was Winston Churchill?

Churchill was a politician, strategist, outstanding orator, and Twice-Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He is considered one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century.

Churchill opposed the appeasement policy toward Adolf Hitler and emphasized that one must not bow to blackmail. He was one of the co-founders of the great anti-Hitler coalition and led the country during an extremely challenging time.
