Windows 11 is a modern operating system that regularly receives updates to improve functionality, security, and user comfort. The latest update, labeled 24H2, introduces a range of new features, including Copilot+, and updates in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth management. At the same time, modifications to the taskbar and File Explorer have significantly enhanced their functionality.

This update is distributed by default through Windows Update and installs automatically for many users unless update settings have been changed. There are increasing complaints online from users who are having trouble launching new games after the system update.

Game issues on Windows 11 24H2

The first reports of problems with the Windows 11 24H2 update surfaced at the end of 2024. The difficulties were related to the following titles:

  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  • Assassin's Creed Origins
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

The issues persist, and users seem increasingly frustrated. Recently, Assassin's Creed Origins has received a wave of negative reviews on the Steam platform (about 15% of the reviews now have a negative tone). Annoyed players blame both Microsoft and Ubisoft for the problems.

One user comments:

"The game won't start. Steam apologizes but doesn't intend to help because it's a problem with the game creator and me. I don't recommend it. According to Steam, I've played for 8 minutes, yet the game didn't start even for a second, but every attempt adds to the time xd."

According to Windows Latest, users have also started reporting issues with Path of Exile 2, created by Grinding Gear Games. Editors noted that during an attempt to launch the game, the computer may freeze, but after restarting the system, the problem usually disappears.

Microsoft investigates the issue

At this moment, it's difficult to find a solution to the issues caused by the Windows 11 update. The growing number of comments from irritated users may, however, pressure companies to find the root of the issues and develop a solution.

Microsoft is analyzing the performance issues. In a comment regarding the problem, the company noted, "We are analyzing how this feedback can help us improve your experience."

Therefore, it remains to be seen how the investigation unfolds, the determination of the cause, and the implementation of appropriate solutions.
