The glitch in Windows 11 occurs when using the Voicemeeter application by VB-Audio Software, according to an updated document on Microsoft's website. The error appears unexpectedly and points to improper memory management. This is a consequence of the application's incompatibility with the latest memory management system in Windows 11. Microsoft states that the manufacturer is already working on a solution.
In the meantime, Windows 11 will not offer the installation of the 24H2 release on computers running the application in question to minimize the risk of the problem occurring. Microsoft advises users not to bypass this safeguard on their own. Tools such as the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or the Media Creation Tool can be used to force the installation of the new version.
Once the memory handling error is resolved, Windows Update automatically suggests the system update installation to users. However, it should be noted that before the issue was identified, the Windows 11 update likely reached many computers where the described software is present. Users are advised to be patient and refrain from using the application if it causes a BSOD.
Windows 11 24H2 introduces several significant improvements. Microsoft added new features related to Copilot+, taskbar enhancements, and File Explorer updates. Additionally, new privacy control mechanisms related to Wi-Fi were added, along with improvements concerning Bluetooth LE. Users can also expect enhancements in account switching in Microsoft Teams and improved functionality of Remote Desktop.
