Cookies with a heart accent: a feast for the eyes and the taste buds
Ingredients:
- 8.5 oz of type 00 flour,
- 5.3 oz of butter,
- 2 egg yolks,
- 5 tbls of powdered sugar,
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract,
- a pinch of salt,
- a few tablespoons of strawberry jam.
Preparation:
Step 1. Begin the process by preparing the dough. Combine flour, powdered sugar, butter, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt using a kitchen mixer.
Step 2. Wrap the smooth and even-textured dough in food-grade film and chill it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Step 3. Divide the cooled dough into small portions, shaping each into a small ball. Arrange these on a baking tray—lined with baking paper to protect your pan.
Step 4. Flatten each ball using the base of a glass to achieve the basic cookie shape.
Step 5. Next, use a small spoon to indent a heart shape onto each cookie. Two careful impressions with the spoon tip should do it.
Step 6. The stylized heart impressions are then filled with strawberry jam. The cookies then go into an oven preheated to 356 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
Step 7. The finished cookies can be served on their own or with extras such as powdered sugar, chocolate icing, homemade frosting, or even fresh strawberries. Bon appétit!
