WhatsApp will soon introduce a refreshed logo for the verified account channel, which will be noticeable right next to its name. This is a cosmetic change, so that verified accounts will be marked with the same color in all Meta services.

WhatsApp is changing the color of the verified account symbol for channels - reports WABetaInfo. In the 2.23.20.18 beta for Android, it was noticed that the small icon visible next to the name has been changed from green to blue and thus is consistent with other indicators of this kind in other Meta products - Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. In a similar way, verified accounts are also marked on service X (formerly Twitter), but on YouTube, it is already a gray symbol.

Verification on WhatsApp is crucial in the context of the channels recently available in Poland. It's a new form of communication that allows for quick updates to large groups of recipients. Messages received in this way can be forwarded on, directing the recipient in the conversation to a specific channel. Thanks to verification, WhatsApp users can be sure that a given channel is authentic, and as a result - that the distributed messages should be credible.

Changing the color of a verified channel on WhatsApp is not the only visual modification to Meta's products recently. A few days ago, the change in the color scheme and styling of the Facebook logo attracted a lot of attention, a change surprisingly detailed by the creators themselves on the blog. As explained at the time, the new design is meant to help clearly identify Facebook as a Meta product. It is possible that in the case of changing the logo on WhatsApp, the reasoning would be similar.
