WhatsApp beta introduces QR channel access and image search
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to the test version of the messenger, allowing users to manage channels using QR codes. This update could facilitate quicker access to noteworthy information.
WhatsApp has unveiled a new option that offers users a more convenient way to search for channels. Currently available only to test users, this feature enhances information discovery. Instead of the traditional text search function, a WhatsApp user can scan a QR code to quickly access a specific group. Users can also be invited to follow channels in this manner, as reported by WABetaInfo.
Enabling the sharing of QR codes for channel links can help users distribute them in novel ways—such as printed on business cards. This can foster more efficient business growth and encourage WhatsApp users to connect via the messenger.
A forthcoming feature in WhatsApp is chat filtering, which will let users organize conversations based on their personal preferences. This feature is anticipated to allow users to sort conversations into categories, such as professional and private chats. At present, this feature is still in beta testing and available only to a limited group of users.
In addition to chat management, WhatsApp is introducing a new image search option directly within the app. Upon receiving a picture, users will have the ability to search for it on the web, in addition to saving or editing it. This feature, resembling Google's Lens, will simplify finding more information about an image, such as during online shopping.
