According to the WABetaInfo service, WhatsApp is developing new features for its messenger application. These features are currently undergoing tests in the beta version, and iOS device users can look forward to trying them out soon.

The first update to arrive in the WhatsApp beta version is a minor yet potentially useful feature for those looking to enhance their privacy. The new feature focuses on simplifying the chat blocking process, effectively concealing them from unsolicited eyes. To open a blocked chat, users will have to provide a password or utilize a fingerprint reader.

In the WhatsApp beta version, users now have the ability to block chats directly from the chat list using a dedicated switch. This feature will be included in the app version tagged with the number 23.24.10.78. WABetaInfo also reported that in October, this feature had already been rolled out to Android users of the beta version, denoted by the number 2.23.22.4.

Status Updates in WhatsApp

The second update that has been implemented in the iOS WhatsApp beta version introduces disappearing text statuses after a designated period. This feature will be usable in the app version marked with the number 23.24.10.73.

Just like the temporary status feature in Messenger, WhatsApp users can set a temporary text status that vanishes after a certain timeframe. Users can decide when the status will disappear from their profile. As of now, a 'never' option is not available. Users can select from a 24-hour, a three-day, a one-week, or a two-week period for the status expiration.

Both of these features are currently up for testing by a selective group of beta testers. It's still unclear when these updates will be rolled out in the full version of the messenger app.
