On Tuesday, the Gaza Strip's refugee camp was bombarded by the Israeli military. The Israel Defense Forces acknowledged the attack and justified it by stating that a high-ranking Hamas commander had been in the targeted vicinity.
Doctors Without Borders responds to attack
The international humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders, expressed deep concern following the attack on the Gaza Strip refugee camp.
"We are horrified by news coming from Jabalia camp where high numbers of people have reportedly been killed by an Israeli airstrike. After the attack, many wounded people arrived to Al Shifa hospital where our teams helped to provide emergency medical care", reads the statement from Doctors Without Borders.
A nurse from the same organization, who is on the frontlines tending to the victims, was quoted.
"Young children arrived at the hospital with deep wounds and severe burns. They came without their families. Many were screaming and asking for their parents. I stayed with them until we could find a place, as the hospital was full with patients", Mohammed Hawajreh, a nurse affiliated with Doctors Without Borders, reported.
"We condemn this latest episode of senseless violence and reiterate our call for an immediate ceasefire to prevent more deaths across the Strip. Enough is enough!", Doctors Without Borders outlined in the statement.
