The UN Secretary-General declared that the situation in the Gaza Strip has reached a "new dangerous level". Antonio Guterres emphasized that he is in constant contact with regional leaders to find solutions that will reduce the suffering of civilians in the enclave.
On Friday, Antonio Guterres spoke about the Palestinian-Israeli war. - We need immediate access to humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip so we can deliver fuel, food, and water to everyone in need. Even wars have their rules - he emphasized.
- It is important for the Israeli authorities to protect all civilians staying in shelters run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, including in schools - he added.
According to Guterres, the UN is collaborating with Israelis and Egyptians to secure aid and establish safe zones for the civilian population.
On Friday, the Israeli military issued an order for the residents of Gaza to evacuate to the south of the Palestinian zone. As reported by Reuters, it was warned that the army will "continue significant actions" in the city in retaliation for the Palestinian Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
