In 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo ended his association with Real Madrid after a tenure of almost a decade. Ronaldo, a Portuguese international, became a club legend after playing 292 matches and scoring an impressive 311 goals.
Ronaldo now plays for Saudi Al-Nassr, and his position in the former Spanish runner-up team has been occupied by Vinicius. This season, the Brazilian player even took on Ronaldo's previous jersey number.
Vinicius has often expressed his admiration for the 38-year-old Ronaldo, who he considers his idol. They have even had the chance to meet, converse, and pose together for a photo that made the rounds on social media.
Recently, Ronaldo decided to gift Vinicius his jersey from the Portuguese national team. This was the same jersey Ronaldo wore during the Euro 2024 qualifier match against Liechtenstein. The match ended in a 2:0 victory for Ronaldo's team, with him scoring the match's first goal.
"For my friend Vinicius," wrote Ronaldo on the jersey that he sent to the Brazilian player.
Vinicius took to social media on Saturday, November 25, to show off his gift. He posted photos of it from his phone's gallery on Platform X (formerly known as Twitter), which included images of the jersey.
This season, both Vinicius and Ronaldo have displayed excellent form. Vinicius has played 13 matches for Real Madrid, scored 6 goals, and provided 4 assists. As for Ronaldo, in 18 matches, he has bested goalkeepers 18 times and has 9 assists to his name.
However, due to a recent injury, Vinicius is in recovery and will not be able to participate in the upcoming Spanish La Liga match. The former Spanish runner-up team will be playing against Cadiz CF away sans Vinicius.
