"JJD Vance’s Munich Security Conference speech has gone down well…in Moscow. Komsomolskaya Pravda headline: 'Humiliated Europe out for the count. Its American master flogged its old vassals,'" wrote journalist Steve Rosenberg on X.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, at the Munich Security Conference, criticized European democracy, claiming that the greatest threat to Europe is its internal retreat from fundamental values.

Vance accused Europe of censorship, ignoring voters, and persecuting Christians.

- The threat that I worry most about vis-a-vis Europe is not Russia, not China, it’s not any other external actor. What I worry about is the threat from within, the retreat of Europe from some of its most fundamental values - declared U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

Vance's Speech

Vance's speech was met with a sharp retort from German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who accused him of questioning European democracy. Pistorius compared the situation in Europe to that of authoritarian regimes, which elicited applause from the conference participants.
