Often, all it takes to accentuate not only your eyes but your entire face is simply a dash of mascara. It's not just the mascara doing this job, though. There's a product from your kitchen that can potentially save money on conditioners and powders.

Did you know you don't have to splurge on costly cosmetics to achieve the effect of long lashes? A simple homemade trick passed down from our grandmothers involves just one readily available kitchen product: potato flour.

Potato Flour: A Beauty Staple in Your Kitchen

Instead of reaching for your wallet to spend more on cosmetics, take a look in your kitchen for potato flour. It's something everybody should have. If you're out of it, a few dollars at the grocery store will get you a pack. This is the magic product that will make your lashes appear much more appealing. Now, how do we use it?

Begin by applying a small amount of potato flour to a makeup brush, then lightly dust your lashes with it. Up next is applying your favorite mascara. Here's an additional technique popular on TikTok: while applying mascara, maintain the wand vertically and only switch it to a horizontal position towards the end.

If you're out of potato flour, don't worry. You can try the same trick with loose face powder or baby powder.

Make Your Own Face Mask

Did you know you could make a face mask from potato starch? Here's how:

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of potato flour,
  • 3 tablespoons of milk,
  • A dash of water.

Directions:

  1. Mix the potato flour, milk, and water until you reach a uniform consistency.
  2. Apply this mixture to your face and décolleté.
  3. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  4. Finally, rinse off the mask with warm water.

Potato starch exhibits mattifying and astringent properties, while milk hydrates and nourishes the skin. Association with water ensures the mask spreads easily. Regular usage of this mask helps reduce sebum production, prevents pimples and blackheads, and smoothens and tightens the skin.

Additionally, potato flour can substitute your translucent powder. It effectively mattifies the skin by absorbing excessive sebum, and you can apply it easily with a brush.
