We personally know many people who consider sandwiches to be a staple in their diets. We also harbor a fondness for this straightforward dish. However, we're fully aware of the hazards that such a consistent routine might pose. Staple sandwich ingredients like bread, butter, and processed deli meats might taste good, but could potentially harm us in the long run.

This is why we firmly believe that as consumers, we should be more mindful about the ingredients we pack into our sandwiches. Consumer awareness becomes particularly crucial, considering how often we reach for sandwiches, especially at breakfast time. Is breakfast supposed to be healthy and nourishing? This question is rhetorical. But how can we achieve that? One easy solution is to replace butter with this unique paste.

A Healthy and Attractive Alternative to Butter

By now, you're probably curious about what this healthy sandwich spread could be. Well, it's guacamole. This uncomplicated paste, made from avocado and lemon juice, is an excellent substitute for butter that provides numerous nutritional benefits. Plus, it makes sandwiches look invitingly delicious. Now, let's dive into the main issue: why exchange butter with guacamole?

The plant-based spread in question is primarily an exceptional source of health-boosting micronutrients. Including plenty of antioxidants like glutathione, it slows down skin aging processes. It's also rich in vitamins A, C, E, K, calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, and in particular, during flu seasons, enriches your diet with folic acid, riboflavin, thiamine, and niacin. But that's not the end of its advantages.

Avocado: A Better Substitute for Butter

Another noteworthy ingredient in avocado is oleic acid, which effectively reduces bad cholesterol levels. This is where we notice a significant contrast between butter and guacamole. Unlike this tasty plant-based paste, butter doesn't share these properties. In fact, owing to the presence of saturated fats, butter might have the opposite impact.

While in cautious amounts butter poses no threat, we recommend occasionally swapping it out with guacamole. Preparing it is no challenge either; you just need to mash two avocados, squeeze in the juice of half a lemon, and if you prefer, add a pinch of salt. Bon appétit!
