The Coast Guard hurried to the location, but after confirming that all onboard managed to disembark the aircraft on their own, they called off the rescue operation.

Shayne Enright, a spokesperson for the Department of Medical Services in Honolulu, confirmed that all military personnel safely reached shore without suffering any injuries, as reported by the Associated Press.

Artillery Sergeant Orlando Perez, a United States Marine Corps spokesperson, stated that the speed limit had been exceeded but did not give further details.

At the time of the incident, visibility was impaired due to cloud cover and rain, according to meteorologist Thomas Vaughan from the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The P-8A Poseidon plane, often deployed for submarine combat and intelligence gathering, is based on Whidbey Island in Washington state. Patrol squadrons were once found in Kaneohe Bay but are now transitioning to Hawaii. The marine base in Hawaii, about ten miles from Honolulu, houses thousands of soldiers and their families. The base is also near ecologically significant areas, including coral reefs and a marine biology research institute run by the University of Hawaii.
