US issues urgent message amid "unpredictable situation"
An escalation of open gunfire has been reported on the southern border of Lebanon. Hasan Nasrallah, the chief of Hezbollah, contends that the escalation on the Lebanese front is a direct consequence of Israel's actions in Gaza. Consequently, he issued threats to the United States. In light of this situation, the US State Department has sent an urgent message to its citizens currently residing in Lebanon.
The US State Department strongly advises American citizens currently in Lebanon to leave immediately, due to the growing unpredictability of the situation and while commercial flights remain available. This announcement was made public via social media platforms.
The rise in violence along the southern border of Lebanon, primarily between Israel and Hezbollah, follows the attacks on civilians by Hamas terrorists in the border regions. These attacks resulted in over 1400 fatalities, primarily civilians, and the abduction of more than 240 individuals to the Gaza Strip.
Hezbollah chief levies strong words against the US
In a public address, Nasrallah argued that the attack on Israel was purely a Palestinian initiative. He added that the covert nature of the operation, concealed from the 'axis of resistance', and unbeknownst to many, validates the notion that "this battle is solely Palestinian".
Nasrallah also expressed his admiration towards Hamas and expressed gratitude towards groups in Yemen and Iraq that form part of the so-called "Axis of Resistance". This includes Shí'í militias in Iraq, noted for their recent attacks on American forces in Syria and Iraq, and the Yemeni Houthi group, which has entered the conflict by launching drone attacks on Israel.
Nasrallah highlighted the significant role of the US in the region, as reported by the Times of Israel. If a full-scale war breaks out, you, Americans, will have to bear the costs with your planes, ships, and soldiers - he warned.
He further reminded the Americans of their past failures in Lebanon and Iraq, and the recent disgraceful withdrawal from Afghanistan. He claimed that those who were victorious against the US in Lebanon in the 1980s still live on, and their descendants are prepared to confront them. Not only that, but he also asserted that the US holds responsibility for the conflict sparked by the terrorist attacks of Hamas.
- Only you can put an end to what's unfolding in Gaza because you instigated it - he emphasized.
In a move to dissuade Hezbollah and its supporter Iran from getting fully involved in the conflict, the United States deployed a strike group to the eastern Mediterranean region in mid-October.
