US intel pause leaves ukraine vulnerable in Kursk region
The suspension of intelligence data sharing by the US with Ukraine has impacted Russian successes in the Kursk region. Ukrainian forces are currently in retreat, as confirmed by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) report.
Since March 5th, when the US stopped exchanging intelligence data with Ukraine, Russian troops have intensified their activities in the Kursk region. Ukrainian forces are in retreat, as verified by the ISW report. This period coincided with accelerated Russian advances, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.
A source in the Ukrainian government confirmed that the lack of US intelligence data has hampered the Ukrainian army's operations. The Russians, previously focused on the Donetsk region, are now concentrating on the Kursk region. The Kremlin is planning to exploit the pause in American assistance to inflict maximum losses on Ukrainian forces before any possible resumption of support.
According to military bloggers, Russian troops have taken control of the village of Ivashkiv and are attempting to entrap Ukrainians in a "cauldron," attacking from seven directions. On Sunday, the Russians recaptured three villages and previously launched an attack through a gas pipeline near Sudzha, catching the Ukrainians off guard.
Critical situation at the border
The Ukrainian project DeepState reports that soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to fend off Russian attacks. The most critical situation is at the border between the Kursk and Sumy regions. Russian special forces conducted an assault by infiltrating inside a gas pipeline, surprising Ukrainian troops.
The ISW report emphasizes that it is difficult to prove a direct connection between the suspension of data exchange and the issues faced by Ukrainian troops; however, the situation in the Kursk region is becoming increasingly tense.
