US House approves central aid for Ukraine, marking 'bad day for Putin'
Dmytro Kuleba, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, commented on a significant decision by the US House of Representatives regarding a new financial aid package for Ukraine, labeling the occasion "a bad day for Putin." The "Ukrainska Pravda" portal provided this update.
"A bad day for Putin. A bad day for anyone who dared to believe that America could waver when it comes to defending what and who it stands for. We are grateful to the U.S. House of Representatives, its Speaker and members of both parties for passing the long-awaited Ukraine aid bill. Everyone who made this decision a reality made the right choice. The United States has reaffirmed its global leadership." Dmytro Kuleba wrote.
Kuleba pointed out that Ukraine is now looking forward to swift approval of the act by the US Senate, followed by President Joe Biden’s signature. He mentioned that the provision of financial aid, amounting to 60.8 billion USD, is expected to boost the morale of Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield significantly.
A pivotal US decision
Last Saturday, the US House of Representatives endorsed a new financial aid package for Ukraine with a vote of 311 to 112. Additionally, it approved a bill to confiscate Russian assets frozen in US banks on behalf of Ukraine. These assets are estimated to be worth between 5 to 8 billion USD.
Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak underlined the urgency of American support in reaching Kyiv promptly. “Ukraine is in a dire situation. It’s running low on ammunition and anti-aircraft missiles. Given what the Russians are doing, it's on the brink of destruction without immediate aid,” he cautioned.
