The soldier in question, Sgt. Korbein Schultz is accused of selling sensitive military information to China. According to the allegations, Schultz was to receive $42,000 for providing data to the Chinese, and his contacts with foreign intelligence began in 2022 and have lasted until now.

The conduct alleged in today's indictment represents a grave betrayal of the oath sworn to defend our country. Instead of safeguarding national defence information, the defendant conspired with a foreign national to sell it, potentially endangering our national security." said Larissa Knapp from the FBI's National Security Branch.

The case came to light simultaneously as the media reported about a former Google employee, Linwei Ding, charged with stealing trade secrets. He is accused of stealing over 500 secret documents and handing them over to Chinese companies.
