The Secret Service agent assigned to protect Joe Biden's granddaughter discharged his weapon at a group attempting to break into a government vehicle, CBS News reported, attributing the information to its sources.

"There was no threat to any individual under protection," the Secret Service clarified in a statement. The incident occurred between the evening of November 12th and the early hours of November 13th, Eastern Time, in Washington.

As per CBS News, three individuals shattered the window of a government vehicle parked outside a home in the Georgetown neighborhood. The agent fired shots in their direction, but no injuries were reported. The suspects fled the scene in a red car and they are currently being pursued.

CBS News, referencing its sources, suggests that the agent was on duty safeguarding Biden's granddaughter. As of now, it remains unclear whether the individuals who attempted to break into the vehicle were aware of the residence it was parked in front of.

Naomi Biden, the subject of this incident, is the daughter of Kathleen Buhle and Hunter Biden, who is the second son of US President Joe Biden from his first marriage to Neilia.
