The mystery behind Melissa Caddick's death - How did she die?

The BBC reported that Melissa Caddick was a wanted woman, under the suspicion of having embezzled around 30 million Australian dollars. Her victims included not just business associates, but also friends and family members.

Melissa Caddick was officially missing for several months. A foot was found on a beach in southern New South Wales in February 2021 and it was suspected that it could have been hers. DNA tests were performed on the remains which confirmed that they indeed belonged to her.

Rumours and conspiracy theories about the circumstances surrounding Melissa Caddick's death were plentiful. Many people postulated that she severed her own foot to mislead the police and successfully stage her own death. Others suspected that she had been victim of a shark attack. The corner, however, put forth an official statement to address the contentious issue.

An official statement about Melissa Caddick was made by Elizabeth Ryan. The deputy state coroner informed the public that the 49-year-old con artist is indeed dead. The circumstances surrounding her death, however, remain unknown.

My conclusion is that Melissa Caddick is dead. Yet... I don't believe there is enough evidence to determine with absolute certainty how, when and where her death occurred - stated Elizabeth Ryan (BBC).
