Unleash your inner artist: DIY home decorations made from everyday items
Handcrafted home decorations make excellent eye-catchers. Involving your children in their creation could make for a fun family activity, or you could let your imagination roam free, indulging in the sheer joy of creating something beautiful. Sometimes, the simplest objects can lead to stunning holiday, winter, or all-around decorations. For instance, have you ever considered turning a mop into an elf figurine?
In turning a mop into an elf, some additional supplies will be necessary. Primarily, you'll need a piece of wooden or Styrofoam cone, which will serve as a stand for the mop-elf. Make sure the mop you use has long hair-like strands. Place these strands on the cone (you'll find the details in the video below) and to keep them in place, cap it with a hat made from a sock. A glue gun will also come in handy to secure the elf's nose and other elements needed to finalize your design.
Stir your creativity with these do-it-yourself decorations
Here's another DIY decoration idea: a handmade candle holder. For this, you'll need a container to house the candle, bookbinder's glue to spread over the container, artificial snow or glitter for decoration, and some ribbons to be tied around the top of the holder. That's it!
Looking for other low-cost decoration ideas? How about another candle holder, but this time with a frosty twist. Instead of just white snow-flakes, you can sprinkle some glitter or other festive stuff inside. Here's what you need: some cardboard to cut a circle in the shape of a wine lamp, which will be the base of your candle holder.
Next, stick any figurine, ornament, or decorative element to the cardboard cut-out. After this, fill the glass with loose material, attach the cardboard cutout on top (video details are enclosed), and place the candle on the top. You can further embellish your creation by tying a ribbon or adding other elements.
