A dangerous situation occurred during a United Airlines flight from Newark to San Francisco. The aircraft had to brake suddenly while landing at the airport, injuring two passengers.

The incident occurred on Thursday, September 19, and was caused by the need to avoid a potential collision with another aircraft at a lower altitude.

As confirmed by the airline in an interview with People portal, the seatbelt sign was on at the time of the incident.
"Two customers, including one who was out of their seat at the time, reported possible injuries and were transported to a hospital - stated the United Airlines spokesperson. - "We’re grateful to our crew for their efforts to ensure the safety of our employees and customers," he explained.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has investigated this incident. The initial FAA statement, published by People, reported that United Airlines flight 2428 responded to an alert signal at around 12:45 PM Local Time in the airspace controlled by Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center when another aircraft was nearby.
Ultimately, the United Airlines plane landed safely at San Francisco International Airport, with no loss of safe separation distance.

Although the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has not yet opened a formal investigation, it has been confirmed that information about this event is still being gathered.
As reported by CNN, United Airlines flight 2428 responded to a Traffic Collision Avoidance System Resolution Advisory signal, which is a severe warning for pilots. Due to the incident, one passenger was quite seriously injured. The second passenger's injuries were not as severe.
