Unidentified space debris hits North Carolina home, surprises owner

An unusual event occurred in North Carolina, USA. The owner of a home heard a loud noise and saw an unidentified object on the roof of his property. Initially, he thought it was a bird. Later, it turned out to be debris from a SpaceX spacecraft.

Mike Wooten from Franklin, North Carolina, was visibly surprised when a large, unidentified object struck his house. At first, he thought a dead bird, which had fallen after hitting a window, was lying on his roof.

According to ABC News, however, the object that struck his house was from space. The object, about 15 inches long, 4 inches wide, and weighing 2 pounds, was said to resemble a car part.

This was not the first such discovery in recent days. A few days earlier, a similar (but heavier and more significant) object fell in Haywood County, about 40 miles away.

NASA does not comment on the incident. Expert speaks about a fragment of a SpaceX spacecraft

Mike Wooten believes the mysterious object fell from space. He thinks it is a fragment of a SpaceX spacecraft, built in collaboration with Elon Musk's company and NASA.

Astronomer and astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell confirms Wooten's opinion. He claims that both objects may come from a spacecraft launched into space in August of last year.

The expert believes the smaller and larger objects may have been part of a whole but separated upon entering the atmosphere. However, NASA and SpaceX do not confirm this information.

Scientists call discoveries like these "space debris." They threaten the cleanliness of space and can also cause problems on Earth. Uncontrolled impacts of such debris can lead to serious disasters.
