Idris Abdurashidov faced Iranian Bagher Faraji on Saturday. From the beginning of the fight, Abdurashidov struggled, and Faraji was leading on points. In the final seconds of the fourth and last round, the Russian fighter delivered a prohibited head kick, knocking out his opponent.
As a result, he was disqualified, but despite this, he boasted about his actions on social media. He wrote: "So I made my debut in professional boxing. And a lifetime disqualification, I fired that kick like a rifle!"
The post was met with sharp criticism. Fans demanded his arrest and a lifetime ban from participating in combat sports. One fan commented: "He should be arrested for assault and battery and banned for life from practicing any combat sports. It's so low."
Boxer's scandalous behavior. Will he never fight again?
Abdurashidov may now face a lifetime ban from boxing. He later posted a photo on Instagram in which he and Faraji are seen shaking hands, stating: "We shook hands with each other. Everything is fine, we've made peace."
The Russian is a professional MMA fighter with a 4-0 record and competes in the Asian organization ONE Championship. It is not yet known whether his illegal kick will affect his future MMA career.
