Everything began a few months after the wedding. When Hayley was 17, she met her future husband, Michael. In October 2010, the couple got married, but their happiness was disrupted by Hayley's health issues. That's when the 25-year-old began experiencing chest pains and severe nausea.

After numerous hospital visits, Hayley was diagnosed with vasculitis. The doctor recommended steroid therapy, a side effect of which would be weight gain. The woman was so devastated by the incurable disease that she didn't care about the potential effects of the drugs.

The woman was on medical leave for several months and avoided work. Over time, the painful symptoms stopped, but then she began to have an enormous craving for sugar and carbohydrates.

She ate 10 bags of chips a day

Eventually, Hayley became addicted to eating chips every day. In addition to unhealthy snacks, she also reached for five cans of soda. Such high doses of sugar caused the woman to gain weight over the years to size XXL.

Hayley tried various diets, but still could not control her hunger. She knew that her addiction had led her into serious obesity.

- If vasculitis wouldn't kill me, my weight would have - she admitted in an interview with "The Sun".

The woman avoided looking at her reflection in the mirror, as well as taking public transportation. She knew she would have trouble fitting into the bus seats. Hayley also canceled meetings with friends and family, which made her feel caged in. She was determined to lose the excess weight, but she didn't know how.

- I couldn't get up from the chair, and clothes with elastic bands I could only buy online. I knew I needed a drastic change - she recalled.

She switched to a strict diet

In 2021, the doctor changed Heyley's treatment method, allowing her to stop taking steroids. It was then that she decided to go on a diet. She knew it was the best moment.

She swapped three thousand calories and huge amounts of chips for four meals totaling 800 calories. Instead of soft drinks, she only drank water. Huge motivation caused her to lose almost 45 pounds in two months.

- I reduced the number of meals and ate regularly. For breakfast, I had oatmeal, soup for lunch, and a salad with fish or chicken for dinner. In addition to this, I drank half a gallon of water a day. By the holidays, I had lost a total of 138 pounds - said Heyley.

This year, the 38-year-old decided to exercise regularly. She used to go for long walks, but now she took it a step further and joined a gym. Over time, Hayley returned to size L, and her friends couldn't believe her extraordinary transformation.
