A Ukrainian woman captured on her phone the moment a Russian missile hit a shopping center in Dnipro. Authorities report five casualties. Thirty-four people were injured, with two in serious condition.

An alarm in the Dnipropetrovsk region sounded around 3 AM Eastern Time. Moments later, media reported that a massive explosion had occurred in the city.

She recorded the moment of the attack

Russians attacked the city with missiles and drones.

"Four people died," reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak, before 6 AM. He added that the number of injured had risen to 34.

"One-third of them are in the hospital. People mostly have shrapnel and cut wounds, bruises, and fractures," reads a post on Telegram.

Zelensky reacts to the attack

One of the Ukrainian women who was near the shopping center recorded the moment a Russian missile struck. Media speculate that the missile was shot down by Ukrainian air defense. Authorities have not confirmed this at the moment.

In another recording, you can see terrified people fleeing by car away from the explosion site. Black smoke billows behind them.

The attack was acknowledged by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who wrote that the number of casualties had risen to five. "My condolences to the family and friends. Thirty-four people were injured, including a child. All necessary State Emergency Service units are involved in the operation; rescuers are providing assistance to all victims," reads the statement.

"Only two things can stop Russian terror – modern air defense systems and the long range of our weapons. The world can protect lives and requires the determination of leaders. Determination that can and must make safety from terrorism a norm again," added Zelensky.
