The attack on the Russian base in Syria was reported by the Kyiv Post, which obtained video materials confirming the involvement of HUR's Main Intelligence Directorate units in the operation.

The target of the attack was Russian military equipment stationed at the Kuweires airbase, located east of Aleppo and occupied by Russian forces, the portal reports. The footage shows an explosion of a Russian military vehicle.

In the latter part of the footage, drones can be seen attacking Russian military facilities at the Kuweires airbase. The strike was reportedly conducted the day after the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, which took place on Wednesday, July 24, at the Kremlin.

Russians targeted by Ukrainians. Not just Syria

The attacked facility has been used by the Russians since 2015. "Ukrainian intelligence informed the Kyiv Post that the base was also used for training and transporting foreign mercenaries to the war in Ukraine," the report states.

Ukrainian forces are also reported to have carried out other attacks on Russians in the region. In May 2023, the head of HUR, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, promised to destroy Russian war criminals wherever they are in the world.

In addition to Syria, Ukrainian special forces HUR are organizing attacks on pro-Kremlin mercenaries from the Wagner Group in Sudan and other parts of the African continent.
