Ukrainian refugees in Poland to receive delayed ID documents
More than 80,000 Ukrainian refugees in Poland will receive identity documents after a delay in their issuance.
The state enterprise Document, operating under the State Migration Service of Ukraine, will issue identity documents for more than 80,000 Ukrainian citizens located in Poland. According to PAP, their distribution had been on hold until now.
Meeting in Warsaw
In Warsaw, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Ukrainian community to discuss, among other issues, the matter of issuing documents. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, announced that the problem had been resolved.
"The President resolved this issue. The documents will be issued, not just in Poland, but wherever they were stuck," Vereshchuk wrote on Telegram.
Cooperation between ministries
Vereshchuk emphasized that the issuance of documents was made possible thanks to the cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Unity. This is an important step for Ukrainian citizens who have been waiting for these documents for a long time.
The decision to issue identity documents is crucial for refugees who need them for legal residence and employment. PAP highlights that the problem affects not only Poland but also other countries where the documents had been stalled.
