According to the HUR statement on the night of April 25, 2024, at the Ostafievo airport near Moscow, a multi-purpose enemy helicopter, Ka-32, was destroyed. The airport is also jointly operated with Gazpromavia, a company of Gazprom.

The statement from the services disclosed that the aggressor state was using the destroyed helicopter to support the operations of the Russian occupying army. Details on how the operation was executed were not provided.

The Ka-32 is a Russian transport helicopter with two turbofan engines and non-retractable landing gear. It represents the civilian version of the search and rescue helicopter Ka-27PS.

A second operation of this nature by HUR

This successful operation by Ukrainian intelligence marks the first instance of Russian weapons or military equipment being destroyed in Moscow since the beginning of the Kremlin's invasion of the neighboring country in February 2022.

Previously, HUR reported that on April 16, a Mi-8 helicopter was destroyed at an airport in Samara.
