Ukrainian forces target key Russian drone base in major strike

The Ukrainian army is increasingly attacking targets located on Russian territory. According to the British Ministry of Defense, Ukrainians are currently focusing on shelling bases from which Russian drones are launched. Attacks using drones are Russia's primary tool for striking targets in Ukraine.

The British emphasize that Ukraine itself indirectly forced Russia to rely mainly on drones, as it effectively defends its airspace from Russian air dominance.

The inability of Russian fighters and bombers to operate freely over Ukraine means that the enemy is forced to use the capabilities provided by cheap drones.

Drones are used by Russia to put pressure on Ukrainian air defense and to attack targets, both military and civilian, that are out of artillery range.

To prevent this, the Ukrainian army struck the Russian 726th Air Defense Training Center, located at the Yeisk airport in Krasnodar Krai, on June 21 at 09:00 PM Eastern Time. This base is located on the Sea of Azov, so the Ukrainian Navy, among others, participated in the operation.

The center in Yeisk is one of at least five similar facilities from which Russia launches drones against Ukraine. As a result of the strike, 120 drones were reportedly destroyed. Nine people were injured.
