"On the night of August 21, units of the Ukrainian Navy, in cooperation with other components of the army, struck the opponent's anti-aircraft S-300 missile system near the town of Novoshakhtinsk in the Rostov region of Russia," reads the statement from the General Staff.

The General Staff reported that the attack resulted in an explosion. Work is currently underway to determine the accuracy of the hit.

"S-300 systems are used not only for defensive purposes"

The General Staff's report noted that "S-300 systems are used by Russian invaders not only for defensive purposes but also to attack peaceful Ukrainian cities, destroy residential buildings, and terrorize the civilian population."

The General Staff assured that the Ukrainian armed forces continue cooperation aimed at important targets of the Russian army.

"Our joint combat work, involving all components of the Ukrainian armed forces, is continually ongoing," emphasized the General Staff.

This is not the first Ukrainian attack in the Rostov region. As a result of one of the strikes, a fire broke out at a fuel base in the town of Proletarsk. Ukrainian drones attacked it on Sunday. The area engulfed by flames is as large as 108,000 square feet.
