Ukrainian forces sink ferry with 30 fuel tanks in Russian port
A railway ferry attacked by Ukrainian forces, carrying 30 fuel tanks, sank in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Krai region in southwestern Russia, reported Russian media, citing local authorities. The first videos have appeared online.
Earlier, authorities reported that a fire broke out in the port of Kavkaz as a result of the Ukrainian attack on the ferry loaded with fuel tanks. A firefighting train was dispatched to the scene. Later, it was reported that there were no active fires in the port area.
The news agency RIA Novosti, quoting rescue services, wrote that five people were on board the vessel at the time of the attack, and their fate is unknown. However, the Telegram channel Baza reported 15 people on the ferry. Port workers were evacuated.
The Meduza news service, citing the Krymsky Veter Telegram channel, wrote that a Ukrainian missile hit the ferry.
Recordings of the burning ferry appear online
The port of Kavkaz is located near the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Krasnodar Krai region with annexed Crimea. Meduza reported that the bridge had been temporarily closed.
Russian troops use ferries to transport military cargo to Crimea, explained Krymsky Veter. Recordings of the ferry attacked by Ukrainian forces were published on social media.
Since Sunday, a fuel base in Proletarsk in the Rostov Oblast region in southwestern Russia, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones, has also been burning.
